Casa Martin

This is a poor photograph of a magnificent specimen of Hibiscus mutabilis which is not very common in Portugal although very well known in the southern US. The flowers open a deep rich red and over the course of two days fade through pale pink to pure white before dying. Currently it is growing in a large pot on a partially shaded terrace underplanted with freesias.
