Cova Dos Mouros
Near
to Martim Longo and well signed from there is the Parque Mineiro which
is a reconstruction of an Iron Age Mining Settlement which also houses
an Iberian Donkey breeding programme and the nearby fields are full of
emus and ostriches. It is open all year except December and January from
10.30 to 18.00 and the entrance charge is very modest. It makes an interesting
day out with the mine park itself, swimming in and picnics near the river,
great scenery and birdwatching opportunities and because it is so far
from development there are superb lichens on the trees.
