Silves
Silves
is an easy 45 minute drive from Casa Martin. It is not a touristy town
but it does receive a number of visitors. It is dominated by the 13th
Century Cathederal and moorish castle.The Cork Museum was the winner of
the Best Industrial Museum in Europe in 2002. Housed in a former cork
factory it follows the process through from harvesting to manufacture.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the town. 8km northeast of
Silves is the Parque Biologico, a game park whihc has deer, wild boar,
falcons, baboons etc.
