Oranges in Spiced Red Wine

 

Oranges in Portugal are lovely and sweet and juicy (and cheap) in the winter when this makes an unusual and refreshing dessert.

4 Oranges
125 ml Red Wine
2 tbsp Sugar
1 Cardamom Pod
1 Cinnamon Stick
2 tbsp Port
1 tbsp Brandy

Put wine sugar and spices into saucepan and bring to the boil to reduce slightly. Add the port and brandy. When cool discard spices. Peel and segment the oranges, pour the sauce over and refrigerate.
